Ouch. Bad news for anyone that’s been hyped over the upcoming Cyberpunk 2077 release, because it’s been pushed back another 5 months. Its new release date is set for September 17th, 2020.
In a tweet earlier today from CD PROJEKT RED, they outlined that although Cyberpunk 2077 is currently playable, it needs more testing and polishing. Another 5-months worth of it.
In the tweet, CDPR goes on to say that they want Cyberpunk 2077 to be their crowning achievement of this generation and that postponing the launch is going to help them make the game perfect.
This comes as sad news considering the original release date for Cyberpunk 2077 was less than 4 months away. However, I would rather wait a few more months for a polished final product in comparison to getting something buggy and unfinished – a trend which has seemingly become the norm even from AAA-level developers.
With that in mind, I respect CDPR’s decision to postpone Cyberpunk 2077, as painful as it may be to know that the release is now 8 months away.
