Fallout 76 Teaser Trailer Released!

After a day of teasing a new game announcement, Bethesda finally dropped the trailer for their newest excursion into the wasteland – Fallout 76. Not much is known about Fallout 76 yet, but according to certain sources, online functionality will play a primary role in FO76. Whether or not that means it’ll be an MMO or something else I’m sure we’ll all find out at BE3 on June 10th. At this stage, it’s pretty much guaranteed that Fallout 76 will not be a typical single-player RPG, at the very least.

No release date or any other specific info has been released at the time of writing this.

Judging by the hints dropped in the trailer, Fallout 76 seems like it will take place in Virginia and focus on the events of Vault 76 – just one of Vault-Tec’s many “control vaults”. According to the wiki, Vault 76 was meant to open 20 years after the war in 2077, so it’s likely that Fallout 76 takes place sometime around or after 2097. However, in the trailer, we can see the date “27 Oct 2102” stamped on a Pip-Boy, so it’s likely the game takes place a few years after the vault opened.

“The vault was designed to open 20 years after a nuclear war, and was among the seventeen known control vaults, meaning that it was used as a baseline to compare to experimental vaults.”

fallout 76 teaser trailerSeeing a new Fallout game announced kind of took me by surprise, to be honest. Considering it’s been 7 years since Skyrim was released (all the way back in 2011) I really anticipated another dive into the Elder Scrolls universe before we’d see another stab at Fallout – especially with Fallout 4 releasing just 2.5 years ago.

Beyond the content of the trailer, there’s not much known about what Fallout 76 will consist of. Right now the only thing we have to go on is speculation, guessing, and assumptions. So, for the time being, I’m going to keep my speculations on reserve until we know more. Bethesda’s E3 isn’t too far out (less than 2 weeks as of writing this) and I know for certain we’ll be learning more about Fallout 76 sometime during that event.

For now, let me know if you’re stoked on this, or not. What do you think it’ll be? Let me know in the comments!
