For Honor is a semi-realistic third person sword-fighting game where you play as a hero from one of three iconic medieval factions, the knights, samurai, or vikings.
It’s an online-focused RPG style game, which will also feature an offline single-player campaign. From what we’ve been shown, the online battles consist of only 4 players per-team, but insane amounts of NPC controlled soldiers which give the armies a feeling of being “alive”, until they’re not. There hasn’t been a lot said about the game, and the footage which has been released is limited, but For Honor looks absolutely incredible.
The control scheme is pretty unique, but somewhat similar to Chivaly: Medieval Warfare. You pick the side you want to attack, or defend, and let it fly, from there, your opponent has to defend the proper direction to actually block your attack. This system alone should make for some extremely versatile and interesting combat. Now that I think about it, the class system also reminds me of Chivalry’s expansion “Deadliest Warrior”.. Which also features samurai, knights, and vikings.
Although no official release date has been set, Ubisoft has stated that For Honor will release sometime in 2016 on PC, Xbox One and PS4. It’s listed to release on December 31st, 2016 on Amazon, but nothing really exists to back that up, so let’s just hope that it’s a temporary date, and that For Honor actually releases early in 2016, because it definitely looks like something that I could sink a lot of hours into.
