Believe it or not, Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst was announced back in 2013, and EA is finally set to release it in early 2016, but not without holding off for a couple more months past their initial release date.
In yesterday’s release by the Mirror’s Edge: Catalyst’s Senior Producer, Sara Jansson, she stated that “We’re building the most immersive action-adventure game with fluid movement and combat in first person.” and “Mirror’s Edge Catalyst will be an all-new playground with a deeper and more engaging story – and we want to accomplish all these goals to the highest quality possible.”
It was then said that Catalyst would be released on May 24, 2016, as opposed to their initially planned release date of February 23. I don’t think another 2 months is too long to wait for what will be a more polished product, and the late-Feb release date would have put them in unnecessary competition with games like Hitman, Far Cry, The Division, and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided, just to name a few.
So, if this is the first time you’re hearing about the upcoming Mirror’s Edge, I’m sorry it had to be (somewhat) bad news! There will be so many epic games between now and then that you won’t even notice the extra 2-month wait.
