bannerlord closed beta

Something I never thought I’d be writing about is people getting access to Mount and Blade 2: Bannerlord. But, guess what? They are! Not at some undisclosed time in the future either, but right now people are playing Bannerlord in it’s closed multiplayer beta.

Trust me, I’m as surprised as you are! I’ve been under the impression that Bannerlord wasn’t going to release until some time after Star Citizen. Now it’s looking like I might have been wrong.

According to the most recent dev blog, not only is the closed beta currently underway, but we’ll also be getting an open beta sometime in the near future. There’s no mention as to when the open beta will be dropping, but I’m sure it’ll be sooner than later. Like the closed beta, the open beta will probably only include the multiplayer portion of Bannerlord. Anyone who was hoping to jump into the singleplayer are still out of luck for a while longer.

The idea behind the closed beta stems from a hope that Taleworlds can more easily engage with a smaller group of early testers. To me, that makes perfect sense. I just hope that the closed beta period doesn’t last for too long. I would REALLY love to get into some Bannerlord. Like a lot of you, I’ve been waiting since it was originally announced back in 2012.

With any luck, we’ll see the open beta drop sometime within the next 2 months. However, that’s just a blind guess. It could be sometime within the next 2-years for all we know.

But, I’m willing to wait. I’ve had so many hours of pure enjoyment playing Mount and Blade: Warband, and I know Bannerlord is going to be just as good if not leagues better… I just don’t want to wait for much longer. It’s already 3-years past the first release date and I think we’re all getting a little impatient.
