It wasn’t too long ago that a lot of people were debating if Rainbow Six: Siege would ever take off, or not. After countless updates, patches, fixes, optimizations, nerfs, and buffs, Rainbow Six: Siege is considered to be one of the best competitive FPS games on the market. To such a degree that it’s brought in over 30-million players across all platforms.
“Coming off the release of Operation Chimera, Rainbow Six Siege has surpassed 30 million registered players”
Last August Siege crested the 20-million player mark, in December they hit 25-million, and now they’ve finally surpassed 30-million players. Over that same amount of time, concurrent player counts on Steam (not a good metric for Siege but it’s all we have) has shot up nearly 3x from 33,923 in August 2017 to a peak of 83,112 in March 2018. Considering a good portion of the R6: Siege community on PC run it straight through uPlay bypassing Steam, there are likely way more players than SteamCharts can show us.
To celebrate this milestone, Ubisoft released the following video.
In an official post about this milestone on Ubisoft’s website, the Brand Director for Rainbow Six: Siege was quoted as saying “On behalf of the entire team, we wanted to thank every member of our diverse, global community for their support of our game. Our players are the most valuable element to our game. Over the last three years, we have endeavored to create a solid community built on transparency as we grow and evolve the ever-expanding world of Rainbow Six Siege.”

Where Rainbow Six: Siege will be in a year from now is up in the air, but for the time being it’s easily one of the best competitive FPS which is only solidified by the constantly growing player base.
