AmazonBasics Mid-Back Office Chair

The AmazonBasics Mid-Back Office Chair serves as a great entry-level option by giving you what you need and nothing more. It's not fancy nor flashy, but it gets the job done. However, this isn't the kind of chair that you can expect to use for anything longer than a couple of years without major comfort degradation.

The material used to cover the seat and back portions of the AmazonBasics Mid-Back Chair is a relatively cheap PU leather while the frame is built from PVC. As far as the general feel of this chair goes, it's good enough for what it is without being excessively bad in any particular area. It tilts back far enough for most people and has a 360-degree swivel, however, there is no lumbar support adjustment nor do the arms adjust.

Due to its mid-back design and weight limit of 225lbs (102kg), this is definitely not a chair that's suited for larger people. However, for the more average-sized person, this chair works great as a budget option.

All-in-all, this chair from Amazon's AmazonBasics line of products is fairly solid for the price. It's not mindblowing, but it's definitely good enough to get the job done and keep you comfy for at least a while.

The Good
  • Inexpensive
The Bad
  • Very small (good for kids or small people)
  • Occasional QC issues
Specs

Seat Height: 19"-23"
Seat Size: 18" x 20"
Back Size: 20" x 23"
Weight Limit: 225lbs
Material: PU Leather

Giantex Gaming Chair

If you're looking for a cheap high-back chair, then this chair from Giantex is one to consider. However, it's worth noting that this particular chair does not tilt very far, just in case this is a deal breaker for you.

The Giantex Gaming Chair is a good high-back chair for a very reasonable price. The primary material is a soft PU leather that feels rather cheap; I don't see it lasting for much more than 1-2 years tops. There are also fabric mesh portions which feel pretty average. The rest of the chair is constructed from a combination of PVC plastic and metal where it's needed. The arms are fixed position and cannot be moved, lumbar support adjustment is also a feature not included in this chair; however.

This chair does support up to 264lbs (119kg) which makes it suitable for most gamers. However, the bigger and heavier gamers out there are going to want to look elsewhere.

As with most inexpensive chairs, the Giantex Gaming Chair isn't one you buy to serve long-term needs, but it's a chair that will serve you well until the cushioning and faux leather inevitably degrade. As far as cheap high-back gaming chairs go, this is definitely an option to consider.

The Good
  • High-back with good neck support
  • Easy setup
The Bad
  • Somewhat "cheap" feeling
  • Arms do not adjust
Specs

Seat Height: 17.7"-21.7"
Seat Size: 19.1" x 18.9"
Back Size: 19.3" x 27.6"
Weight Limit: 264lbs
Material: PU Leather + fabric mesh

Merax Mid-Back Office Chair

Want a chair that looks a little more gamery than your basic office chair? Check out the Merax Mid-back office chair. Why they called it an office chair, I'm not sure, but this is definitely a chair targeted towards gamers. From the red and black color scheme (blue and black is also available) to the aggressive design patterns.

The padding is relatively comfortable and the chair is covered primarily with a PU leather with some mesh portions. However, like with most budget gaming chairs, I do not see this material lasting forever. It will last you for a while and be comfortable while doing so, but it's inevitable that it will break down over time, exactly how long depends on how many hours you spend in your chair every day. The rest of the chair is manufactured using PVC plastic and metal where needed.

This chair will support up to 220lbs (100kg) and as such is not ideal for larger gamers. The mid-back design is slightly taller than other mid-back chairs and feels like a compromise between mid and high. If you're not a fan of mid-back chairs and high-back chairs are too much, this might be something to check out.

For a chair in the sub-$100 price bracket, it's hard to complain about Merax's Mid-Back Office Chair too much. It will get the job done while looking good at the same time, just don't expect it to last as long as a high-end chair would.

The Good
  • Good nylon wheels
  • Moderately comfortable
The Bad
  • Non-adjustable arms
  • Feels cheap
Specs

Seat Height: 17.5"-21.5"
Seat Size: 20" x 19"
Back Size: 19" x 24.5"
Weight Limit: 250lbs
Material: PU Leather

#2

Homall Gaming Chair

This chair from Homall might be the cheapest on the list, but it's a long way from feeling "cheap". Sporting a clean red and black design (blue and black is also available) this is a great looking chair for pretty much any setup. Comfort? Well, let's talk about that.

Homall's gaming chair isn't uncomfortable, but it's not what a lot would call comfortable either.  It's stiff and rigid everywhere except the cushion for your thighs/knees. That said, it's not hard to see why someone who likes a rigidity like that would feel right at home sitting in this chair. It's primarily wrapped in PU leather except for a few places where there's a mesh-like fabric. It's not for everyone, but if you like a stiff chair you should check out this one. The ergonomics are good with the backrest being shaped nicely as well as the seat.

This chair will support up to 280lbs (127kg) without an issue and is built a little bigger to support larger frames. The castors that it comes with are surprisingly good as they're not your basic hard nylon, Homall actually throws in rubber PU wheels that really make it nice to roll around on hard surfaces - the rubber wheels result in less damage to your floor as well.

If you're a taller/bigger person looking for a good solid chair without breaking the bank, this one from Homall might be what you're after. It's tall, rigid, and gets the job done. You can't ask for much more out of a chair that costs just over $60.

The Good
  • Comfortable
  • Good rubber wheels
  • Supports up to 300lbs
  • Firm padding
The Bad
  • Short lifespan (like all budget chairs)
  • Non-adjustable arms
Specs

Seat Height: 18"-21"
Seat Size: 20.9" x 20.6"
Back Size: 20.5" x 28.34"
Weight Limit: 300lbs
Material: PU Leather + fabric mesh

BestOffice High-Back Office Chair

The last entry and #1 ranking cheap gaming chair on this list is the BestOffice high-back office chair. It's more padded than most chairs at this level and looks a little more professional as well, for anyone out there trying to maintain a home office on a budget while gaming at the same time.

This chair is primarily wrapped in PU leather and constructed using plastic, there's metal as well but only where it's required. I can say from experience, this chair will work great for about a year and then it'll start to break down pretty quickly. However, during that year it's going to be a very comfortable chair that you'll enjoy sitting in, and for a great price too.

It'll easily support up to 250lbs (113kg) and seems to be built with taller frames in mind. The tilt function works well and the pneumatic lift allows for a fair amount of adjustment.

It's comfortable and sturdy enough, but the materials used just aren't meant for the abuse that us gamers put their chairs through! So, if you're looking for a good, comfy chair that'll last you for a while, this one from BestOffice is without a doubt one to consider!

All-in-all, it's a good chair as long as you don't expect it to last forever. Chairs at this level have a relatively short lifespan if they're being used all the time and this one is really no different.

The Good
  • Comfortable to sit in
  • Lots of padding
  • Padded arms
  • Reclines
The Bad
  • Non-adjustable arms
  • Questionable QC
Specs

Seat Height: 19"-23"
Seat Size: 20" x 20"
Back Size: 20" x 28"
Weight Limit: 250lbs
Material: PU Leather

Conclusion

As you can see, you don't need to spend insane amounts of money to get yourself a good cheap chair to use for gaming. For less than $100 you can get yourself a chair that'll easily last for 12 months, maybe even longer depending on how often you're using it.

If you're the kind of person who's in their chair for hours on end every day, don't expect any of these to hold up for too long. If that's you, you're better off saving your money and investing a bit into not only your chair, but your long term back health as well. Check out this list of the 16 absolute best gaming chairs and I'm sure you'll find what you need.
